Importance Of Positive Affirmations For Emotional Wellbeing

Feeling uncertain about the future, especially during tough time is natural. Everything seems so up in the air. You struggle to stay motivated and productive. You spent much of your time on thinking, while also trying to figure out how to overcome the situation.

Yes, people face such kinds of situations when everything seems dark. Finding the right direction and taking concert decisions seems challenging. 

If you are down in the dumps, there are a few things you can commit to doing to feel better. And one of them is a practice of positive affirmations.

Changing perspective with positive affirmations

Affirmations are a specific set of phrases and statements that are supposed to help you combat self-deprecating and negative self-talk and thoughts, that you are guilty of.

Let’s take a statements like,

“I am capable of doing good things in my life”

“I am hardworking. I can do things in better way”

The moment you create these thoughts, you will feel energized with positivity.

Though a lot of things in life are out of your control, but the few things you actually do have control over are how you think, and feel about yourself.

Changing your perspective from a lack and deficit mindset, to a positive and abundance mindset will literally shift the way you see the world.

Your perceptions shape how you see and view the world. This doesn’t mean that you are avoiding reality, but it does mean that regardless of the outcome of whatever situation, you are committing to see the positive aspects of everything you encounter.

Yes, the positive affirmations have an ability to change your perspective towards life.

Once you change your perspective, things begin to fall in place automatically.

Why affirmations work?

Whether you admit it or not, we all talk to ourselves. And over the period of time, these talks form our belief system. Your brain molds according to input you provide with it. In other words, your talk has the power to reshape the way of your thinking pattern.

Your thoughts create your actions, and your actions create your reality. If you’re constantly reminding yourself with positive self-talk, you will take positive action which become reality of your life soon. 

Affirmations are more than just positive statements. They are form of positive self-talk and when repeated can lead to formation of empowering beliefs that get reflected in your behavior. With this shift in attitude, you will feel like much more in control. This also motivates you to take an action with confidence and determination.

It makes sense, doesn’t it?

Yes, positive affirmations are just like the psychological immune system. When you are down with negativity, you can use them as an effective tool to fight with the situation. It is an ideal way to de-stress by focusing by focusing your mind away from your worries.

It could be the reason people who practice positive affirmations appear to be happier, more optimistic, and have a clearer perspective on life.

Practicing positive affirmations

Easier to say than done, but practicing positive affirmations can be hard to start. So, initially start with one single positive statement until you make it. 

For example, say something that you really mean just like “I am doing pretty well in my life”. Repeat it several times and eventually you will start to look  for  good things happening around you. You can write down these affirmations for better results. In this era of smart phone, even you can listen to affirmations as per your convenience.

Over the period, you can add several such affirmations according to different situations in life. 

However, it doesn’t mean you must live in a state of disillusion filled with over estimation of positive outcomes and excitement. Indeed, affirmations is a form of self-care where you don’t need to punish yourself with every single negative thought that drains your energy. 

It is important to believe what you are saying. Understand the power of words, especially when you used them for yourself.

Regular practice of positive affirmations helps to find the sweetness in life, making your existence fulfilled and happy.
