“One day I am going to be a senator.”
“One day I am going to be a doctor.”
“One day I am going to be an influencer.”
Aren’t these statements sound good to our ears ?
Yes…definitely
And why not, after all these statements are inspiring, motivating and most importantly adding purpose to our life.
But why do we need to pursue purposeful life?

The power of leading a purposeful life
Imagine you are living in a beautiful house full with all comforts. You are enjoying your favourite foods, drink and sound sleep. No doubt you will be happy for few weeks or months but think of living in same situation forever!
All these comforts will hardly make you feel happy in long-term. Isn’t it?
On the contrary, imagine you are engaged in productive work that helps you to make money, serve society and build relationships. You are progressing in your life and becoming successful in your professional, family and social life.
Which one will you choose?
Definitely, you want to involve in productive work that keeps you going.
Being purposeful in life can feel great. Isn’t it?
Yes, for sure.
When we have a purpose, we have a plan for future. With this, life become exciting because we keep ourself engage in meaningful activities.
In pursuit of fulfilling a purpose, we exposed ourselves to new challenges and opportunities that bring zest to life. This gives clarity of direction and motivates us to take action. Action creates momentum and helps us to progress which in turn boosts our confidence and helps build our inner certainty.
Pursuing passion and interacting with new people helps to explore new areas giving us different experiences. Staying passionate about something and chasing our goal will always bring meaning to our life. This will help to see a world from a new perspective. Human mind is programmed to detect something new and enjoys a novelty.
The most positive growth happens when we pursue good things in life because that’s what make us feel proud. That means having a purpose make our life meaningful and worthy to live.
Obviously when we do things with a good purpose we can even anticipate good things about a future. The more purposeful we are in our life, the more likely we are to act. The more things we do, the greater its influence on our life.
In short, purpose is a catalyst that turns attitudes into action, bringing beliefs to life and imbuing them with meaning. This gives an attitude, durability and impact.
Psychologically, being purposeful plays a key role in shaping our thoughts, judgements, attitudes, and behavior that bring a greater sense of certainty to life.
In fact, we need a sense of purpose to experience a sense of order, emotional health, and well-being.
Strengthening our sense of being purposeful
In spite of knowing this fact, most of us have no clue what we want to do with our lives. Even after we finish education; even after we are in good job or even after we’re making good money.
We changed our aspirations more often than we take concrete actions. And even after we had secure life, it took us another year to clearly define what we wanted in our life.
It’s a struggle almost every adult goes through.
“What do I want to do with my life?”
“What am I good about?”
Does being purposeful just means achieving success at workplace and making money?
If so, does it mean homemakers or caregivers or social workers are living purposeless life because they are not making money?
To answer this question, let’s understand that being purposeful just doesn’t mean productive at workplace and achieve financial stability.
In fact, being purposeful is a broad term. A mother who is taking care of children is living purposeful life because she is adding values in building future generations. A caregiver who is taking care of ill is living purposeful life because he/she is helping other humans to lead quality life. A volunteer or social workers are living purposeful life because they are helping to meet basic and complex needs of society.
In essence, any work that helps in uplifting human and society in many different ways is purposeful and worthy to pursue.
