The Joy Of Healthy Living

I have a question for you.

What is the most valuable thing in your life? What is the one single thing that really matters to you?

Obviously, the answers would be different.

For some people, it could be family while for others, it may be money. Some may say that maintaining social connectivity is worthwhile. And some may prefer time management as an asset.

Fortunately, you all are correct.

Yes, we need good family, financial freedom, social connections and skills to make our life virtuous, successful and worthy to live.

But do you really think having these assets is sufficient to make you happier and content? Or, are you missing out on anything important?

Well, if you ask the same question to me, my answer would be a little bit different.

Yes, for me healthy living is the most important thing in my life.

I am not saying this just because I am a doctor and well aware of the benefits of healthy living. But for me, healthy living is a path for joyful and satisfied life too.

A dictionary might say that health is a state being free from sickness and disability. But we know that it is more than this and we don’t need to be genius to understand simple logic behind it.

Good health is a way to happiness and fulfilment

Our health encompasses three important aspects i.e. physical health, mental health and social health.

The first one is physical health. It is something that is related to normal functioning of our body. It also means that our body is strong enough to fight against diseases, and we are less susceptible to medical illnesses.

The second one is our mental health that deals with thinking, feeling and behavior. With this mental resilience, we have an optimistic approach towards our life. This makes us to give our best without getting too much affected by external circumstances.

And lastly, there is a concept called a social health. Social health determines our relationships with people around us. A good social support involving a network of family and friends ensures safety and connectivity. A good social connectivity helps us to maintain our identity in living community.

When our physical, mental and social health is at its optimal level, we can easily perform daily activities of living that are significant to us.

As a healthy person, I can be a good caregiver to my family. I can be a good mother for my children. Feeling good about myself makes me more confident to serve others. I can be a source of emotional support, love and security for my loved ones. This helps me to cultivate a sense of belonging and a sense of worthiness. Overall getting healthy helps me feel in control of my life.

Being healthy I am always fit to complete my task at a workplace. Getting work done with a right mindset improves my productivity and quality of work. This gives purpose and meaning to my life.

Being healthy I can explore more, visit more places, learn something new and develop new skills. You see, skill development opportunities are more when we maintain that healthy sphere.

Undoubtedly, living healthy means living life to the fullest.

And last but most important is a healthy lifestyle means fewer health problems. That means less visits to doctor’s clinic, less consumption of medicines, less sick leaves and budget-friendly for wallet too.

Now, tell me what is your opinion on being healthy?

Don’t you think remaining in good health can have a positive effect on almost every aspect of our life?

Yes, we can say that to a great extent, healthy living can be the secret to happiness.
