The discussion about mental health has become a much talked-about topic. More than ever before, doctors, researchers, people and communities are expressing interest around the open discussion of mental health.
Mental health has become a primary health concern. But still there is no enough awareness about promoting positive mental health. This topic is still taboo and therefore, it is not discussed enough.
But why do we need to promote positive mental health?
Well, all of us are pretty much aware about the nature of the life.
Life does not always sail on a smooth and calm sea, there are storms and waves to deal with.
Failure, rejection or disappointment are an integral part of human experiences which calls for hatred, grudges, resentment, bitterness or doubtful attitude.
Human mindset usually propelled towards a more negative outcome.
To most of the population, they find their life circumstances very unfavorable and disappointing. When our mind keeps feeding on the disturbing events, naturally we skewed toward negativity.
Lately, people have been feeling stressed due to multiple reasons. For some, it’s relationship conflict and for others, it’s the uncertainty of future.
People experience anxiety and sadness when life may not be going the way they imagined it. When a person is sad or is sharing his/her problems, we tend to say that it will all be fine but we must understand that sometimes it’s a serious issue.
There are many reasons due to which one might slip into mental health problems. A family history of mental illness, life experiences of being abused, being rejected or witnessing a traumatic event are few to count.
We all keep ourselves physically fit by eating nutritious diet and hitting the gym. But how often do we take the time to reflect on our emotions?
It can be so easy for us to take our mental health for granted and prioritize other things.
Usually, people say that one should seek help only when they are going through anxiety or depression, but as a matter of fact, we should take the initiative to check up on mental health on a regular basis.
It’s high time we understand we have to give it importance, just the way we keep our physical fitness on priority.

With these positive characteristics, it’s natural to experience positive emotions like optimism, love, happiness, compassion, satisfaction and joy.
Positive mental health includes being able to function well mentally, feeling in control of our life and personal decisions and have an optimistic outlook about life.
Promoting positive mental health strengthens one’s ability to navigate uncertainty and overcome challenges more easily. This is nothing but the resilience. In truth, resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity as quickly as possible.
A resilient person always explores new ways and gets open up to possibilities. Interpreting things optimistically help to build on skills, strengths and values which is a key to cultivate healthy self-esteem.
